BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 500 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Karie Russell has worked at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) since 2004 and taken on a variety of roles including ISAP Coordinator, Contract Training Coordinator, Marketing Events Coordinator and a wide range of projects including supporting roles with the Opening Celebrations of TRU, International Days and pathway school recruitment initiatives. Since 2011 Karie has been working within the Study Abroad Mobility office within TRU. She received a TRU Distinguished Service Award recently in 2016 and has extensive experience in student ambassador program development and a range of international initiatives for both incoming and outgoing student experiences.

Karie values student engagement within the classroom and beyond, yet really values the learning students gain from experiential learning. The combination of learning within the classroom and experiences beyond contribute to richer personal development.
