BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 500 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Mami Schouten is the International Co-op Coordinator at the University of Victoria (UVic) supporting students pursuing co-op abroad as well as international students aiming to gain Canadian work experiences.Throughout her past 16 years of employment at UVic, she has taken various roles in the field of International Education and Co-operative Education Programs. Her professional development experiences include the completion of the International Educators Training Program (IETP) at Queens University as well as Level 1 Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Certification. In her current role, Mami works closely with students to facilitate before/during/after co-op work terms abroad and create a suitable environment for students to reflect on their intercultural competency development. In the meantime, Mami engages in international job development to create job opportunities that are relevant to students in a wide range of program areas.
