Intercultural Training & Capacity Building in BC’s Public K-12 System

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

BC’s K-12 sector has been successful recruiting diverse populations of international students and supporting them through innovative services. Until recently little attention has been paid to enhancing the intercultural capacity of BC’s teaching and front-line staff and students. Outbound mobility programs offer transformational experiences for students but are seldom planned around intercultural learning outcomes. In this session a theoretical framework will be established and two school districts will share initiatives taken to build intercultural capacity and provide intercultural learning opportunities for both students and staff, including the implementation of a Global & Intercultural Skills Program developed with the BC’s Ministry of Education.
