BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 500 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Why is it that the vast majority of stories in the press about international education are negative? Reporters, parents and sometimes even out colleagues perpetuate negative stereotypes about international students in our schools and communities. These misconceptions then dominate the dialogue. This session will provide messaging tips for schools communication strategy, and explore how we as practitioners and leaders in international education can proactively ensure that the true value of internationalization is understood and communicated. The content of this session is applicable to K-12, PSE and Language.
