BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 500 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Seeking answers: Understanding the academic performance of international students through an intercultural lens [Intercultural Stream]

Why are some international students more academically successful than others? This team of cross- institution researchers is exploring just that in a pilot study. Our experience suggests that the factors that lead to international student success are far more complex than currently reflected. We will present our initial research about what, if any, intercultural effectiveness factors as well as key intercultural competencies are possible indicators for academic success using the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES).
