Why are some international students more academically successful than others? This team of cross- institution researchers is exploring just that in a pilot study. Our experience suggests that the factors that lead to international student success are far more complex than currently reflected. We will present our initial research about what, if any, intercultural effectiveness factors as well as key intercultural competencies are possible indicators for academic success using the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES).
