Education Among Indian International Students and International Student Open Textbook Adoption

Through thirty-two qualitative interviews, our study critically examines how Indian international students attending Langara College view education. Our research attempts to both humanise the experiences of being 'abroad' in Canada while situationally considering their motivates behind academic decision making. The second part of our research explores the adoption of open textbooks by international students. The preliminary findings indicate that providing open textbook access to international students increases their academic success rate. Drawing upon data collected from follow-up interviews this study explores the use of open textbooks from the students’ perspective. Through the understanding of the motives and rationale of international students we endeavour to provide important contributions to the enhancement of post-secondary student learning.
