In this session, Languages Canada and partners from the State governments of Mexico and Guanajuato will present outcomes of recent and ongoing cooperation for language education capacity-building. Language education, particularly English, is a high priority for Mexico's federal and state governments, spurred by country-wide education reform that includes internationalization of secondary and higher education systems and the workforce. Mexico is increasingly looking to international partners to support its language education objectives through in-country and distance course delivery, and capacity-building for teachers and administrators. The future success of the Canadian language education sector lies in our ability to look beyond simply student recruitment, to developing strategic international partnerships, with both governments and academic institutions.
