BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 500 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Intercultural competence is emerging as a core outcome of international education efforts. There are numerous challenges, though, including how best to advance these competencies through curriculum development and program design in secondary and post-secondary education environments. This interactive workshop will explore approaches, assessment, and applications of intercultural competence in academic and non-academic courses, programs and activities. Participants will:
• gain awareness of various approaches to fostering intercultural competence into their courses, programs, or activities;
• consider a changing paradigm for assessing intercultural competence;
• and learn from case studies on developing and assessing intercultural competence through academic and non-academic examples.
